Primm Valley | Primm Valley (formerly known as State Line) straddles Interstate 15, as it crosses the state border between Nevada and California. This small community consists of 3 casinos, which attract gamblers from California wanting to stop before reaching Las Vegas, or as a last chance to gamble before leaving Nevada.
Buffalo Bill’s is a hotel and casino that offers 1,242 guest rooms and suites, a 61,372 sq ft casino, 5 restaurants, a buffalo-shaped pool, a race and sportsbook, and the Star of the Desert Area, a 6,500-seat concert hall.
The property is also home to the Desperado hypercoaster, Log Flume, Frog Hopper, Cyber Coaster, and video arcade. The Desperado was listed by the Guinness Book of Records as the world’s tallest roller coaster in 1996 with a 225-foot drop and is the only hypercoaster in Nevada.
Primm Valley is a hotel and casino that offers 624 remodeled rooms and suites, a 37,779 square-foot casino, 5 restaurants, courtyard pool and hot tub, a spa and gym, and a William Hill race and sportsbook. The property is reminiscent of an old-time Midwestern country club and is also connected to the Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas.
The Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas is a 371,000 square foot shopping mall that houses more than 100 stores, outlets, and restaurants. The mall is divided into 2 themed sections: The Urban Court and the South Beach Court and is open daily from 10:00 am – 8:00 pm, closed on Christmas.
Whiskey Pete’s is a hotel and casino that offers newly renovated 777 rooms and suites, a 36,400 square-foot casino, 4 restaurants, a large pool with a waterslide, and a gift shop.
The area was rumored to be originally owned by Pete MacIntyre aka “Whiskey Pete” who resorted to bootlegging after his gas station was going under. Mimicking it’s rumored history, Whiskey Pete’s has an Old West theme throughout the property including decorations that replicate an early mining town and depictions of prospectors.
The lobby is home to the stolen Ford Deluxe car in which bank robbers Bonnie and Clyde were driving and killed in a police ambush in Bienville Parish, LA on May 23, 1934. As well as the notorious gangster Dutch Schultz’s 1931 Lincoln, that was driven by Al Capone’s mob after Schultz’s murder in 1935.
Free monorail rides are offered every half hour between the 3 properties Buffalo Bill’s, Primm Valley, and Whiskey Pete’s.
WHERE WE ATE
Mad Greek Cafe | This roadside dinner and drive-thru offers authentic Greek cuisine including gyros, pita bread, baklava, and milkshakes. Although I felt the food was overpriced, $42 for 2 gyros, 1 greek salad, a kid chicken fingers and a cup of fruit, we enjoyed it.
Jean, Nevada | This small commercial town, located about 12 minutes from Primm Valley, has no actual residents and only consists of the Gold Strike Hotel & Gambling Hall, the Jean Sports Aviation Center, a courthouse, a female corrections facility and a post office for the postal code 89019.
Gold Strike Hotel & Gambling Hall | This property features 300+ remodeled rooms, jacuzzi suites, an outdoor pool, spa, and a 24-hour casino.
The Gold Stike used to have a hotel called The Nevada Landing right across the highway but it closed in March 2007.
The Gold Strike also offers a free movie car exhibit on the casino floor that currently features cars from Grease, Batman, and the Fast & Furious series.
Seven Magic Mountains | Located in the Jean Dry Lake this large-scale public art installation is composed of 7 colored and stacked boulders that stand more than 30 feet high. The exhibition opened May 11, 2016, and will be on view for 2 years. For more information about our experience click here!
OTHER THINGS TO DO
Las Vegas Glider Rides | Experience the thrill of flight with 1 and 2 man flights over mountains and deserts at the only glider company in Southern Nevada.
Primm Valley Golf Club | Golf packages are available through Primm Valley Resort and offer 2 pro-style golf courses. The Lakes is a traditional course with fairways, lush landscapes, and waterfalls while The Desert showcases the natural beauty of the desert including cacti and waste areas.
Primm Valley Lotto Store | This convenience store is located on the California side of the border and is the closest place for Nevada residents to buy California State Lottery tickets. This store sells more tickets than any other California vendor because Nevada does not have its own state lottery.
